Happy New Year!

It’s been a while since I posted, to be exact its been 3 months since I last posted which is an absence that was unplanned. 

I’m not normally someone who likes to do New Year resolutions as I prefer to set goals for the year that I can potentially change as the year goes on according to what is happening in my life. One thing that I do want to do in 2026 is be more consistent in posting here on my blog as well as on social media. I have spent the last few days going through some ideas that I’ve got for posting on here as well as making a start on getting these posts ready so that I can try to make sure that I am scheduling ahead.  I am going to change the days that I post as I used to post on a Tuesday but I’m going to trial posting on a Thursday instead. 

This post is more to let you know that plans I have coming for this year as well as give some hints as to what kind of posts you can expect to see this year. 

My first trip for this year is next month where I will embarking on a 2 week Canary Island cruise onboard P&O Iona. Iona is a ship that I’ve been onboard before along with the sister ship Arvia so I look forward to being back onboard. This cruises will also include an overnight stay at Lisbon where I have an excursion booked to visit Sintra & Cascais. 

My first UK trip of the year will be to Jedburgh, Scotland at the beginning of the summer where I will spend a few days in a lodge as well as exploring the local area. This is a trip where I will also be taking my cockapoo Barney on his first trip of the year.  So any tips for anything to do in the area will be welcomed as we currently don’t have anything planned for whilst we are there. 

At the beginning of June I will be heading to London for one night where I will be going to see Boyzone at Emirates Stadium. 

For my birthday in June I shall be spending the night at The Reserve Chester Zoo. This is a lodge accommodation within Chester Zoo grounds where you can enjoy views of the giraffes as well as entry to the zoo.  We have booked a giraffe view lodge for the night. 

After spending the evening at Chester Zoo I will be back home for one night before venturing off on another UK staycation with Barney as we spend some time in Peak District. This is a trip that I had to cut short last year due to family circumstances. For my trip to Peak District I currently have plans to visit the following:

Calke Abbey

Bakewell & Buxton

Chatsworth House

Crich Railway

Any other recommendations are welcome as we will be staying in the Ashbourne area in a lodge. 

My second cruise of the year will be in September as I board Sky Princess for 14 nights which will be my first time cruising with Princess. This will be a cruise visiting Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Zeebrugge, Visby and other ports. Some of the ports on this cruise are destinations that I’ve not been to before. 

Usually throughout the year I have a few tickets to go and see different musicals but that is not the case for this year as I currently only have plans to go and see Barnum in Manchester next month,

That is all the plans that I do currently have for the year ahead but I’m sure there will be more added as the year goes on.
