One of the most daunting tasks when booking a city break is choosing where to actually stay as it’s hard to decide where you think is the best area for you to stay especially if its the first time you are visiting the city.

During my stay in Munich I stayed at the 4-star NH Collection Munchen Bavaria. Personally I found this to be in an ideal location as it was within walking distance of the main square Marienplatz as it would take me approximately 15-20 minutes to walk there. There is also good public transport close to the hotel as there is a tram stop nearby as well as a train station across the road.
This hotel is also located 30 minutes away from the airport in a car. A flight delay meant that I didn’t arrive at my hotel til nearly midnight which wasn’t an issue to the hotel when it came to checking in as upon my arrival they swiftly allowed me to check-in so that I was able to go to my room to then unpack and get some rest ready for a day of exploring.
Check in is from 15:00 and check out is til 12:00. This is a non-smoking hotel.
Upon walking in to the hotel you are greeted with the reception area located next to a small bar area which is on the left of your entrance. On the right of your entrance there is a small seating area where you could potentially chill with a drink.

Within this hotel there are 220 rooms which include free wi-fi. There are some rooms available that have a terrace area which allow you to step out and enjoy views over the city of Munich and depending on the weather you may see the Alps. There is a gym within the hotel along with some meeting rooms.
If you are travelling by car or you’ve hired a car for your stay there is off site parking which is €30 per day but this can be discounted for hotel guests at the reception to €15 per day.
If you are travelling with your dog or cat then this is a hotel which is ideal for you as it is dog and cat friendly, there is a fee of €35 per day with a maximum of 2 pets per room.
For my stay I booked a superior room on a room only basis although you are able to book to include breakfast too which is a buffet style breakfast located on the third floor. If you are wishing order room service during your stay there is a limited menu on offer, this is a service that I didn’t choose to use. There is a mini bar in the room with a small selection of drinks along with some snacks. In the room there is tea and coffee making facilities. Within the bathroom you will find a shower located over the bathtub with some shampoo, conditioner and body wash on the shelf too in case if you’ve forgotten to bring any. There is a large sink area with some hand wash as well as some body lotion, if you’ve forgotten your hairdryer there is one located next to the sink. There is air conditioning within the room along with a flat screen TV. Of an evening I was able to get a comfortable nights sleep in the king size bed which came with plenty of pillows. There is a double wardrobe to store your clothing along with some drawers within the wardrobe. There is a safe located next to the wardrobe to keep any valuables safe when your not in the room.

During my stay I didn’t require much dealings with any of the hotel staff but when I did I always found them to be both polite and helpful.
This is a hotel I would choose to stay in again if I was to visit Munich again and would also recommend to anyone who is visiting Munich.
This hotel is an average of £108 per night at the time of this post being published in July 2025.
